"Arrow" by Half Alive

Half Alive is a fairly new indie-pop band from Long Beach, California. Recently, they released a song titled “Arrow” along with a vibrant music video to accompany it. The song begins with a soft piano, and as soon as the vocals begin you can tell the song is by Half Alive from the lead singer, Josh Taylor’s, distinct vocals. The chorus hits with a dancy, yet relaxing sound, and ends with a fun outro.

Not only is the song appealing, but the music video really encompasses the indie-pop-band-of-your-dreams vibe. With the wide use of different, bright colors, clever camera angles, and most importantly, the dance moves, Half Alive creates an alternate universe for their song. The key phrase seen in the video is “the rest of your life”, which is seen on different objects such as the fridge or television. The message can be discovered through this phrase, but also through the interesting choreography, the band gives us that stands out among other videos in this genre. A viewer can interpret the theme however they want, or they can watch the video for the flashing colors, aesthetic setting, creative choreography, or of course the catchy tune behind it!

While you check out “Arrow”, be sure to check out Half Alive’s other music videos and songs including “Still Feel” and “The Fall!"
