INTERVIEW: Drive!Drive!

Drive!Drive! is a three-piece alternative pop band from Nashville, Tennessee. Lead vocalist/guitarist Alex Johnson, synth bass/guitarist Gavin Hurlburt, and drummer Phillip DeLuca make this band who they are. They are still moderately new with their first single “Feels” which came out on April 27, 2018. Since April they have released two other songs, “No Good” on July 27, 2018, and “Love To Hate You” which came out on November 9, 2018. We got the chance to talk to Drive!Drive! about the band and what makes them who they are.

How did you meet & form the band?

Alex posted on Facebook looking for band members that wanted to play for the love of music rather than session players in it for the money. That’s how he got connected with Philip and Gavin.

Drive!Drive! is an interesting band name, what inspired it?

Alex essentially got the idea when thinking about a car chase scene. Someone yells, “Drive! Drive!” In a getaway scene. Rallying call to ourselves that we need to keep pushing forward to achieve our goals. To never stop.

What does your songwriting process look like?

At 3am, on too much coffee, Alex comes up with general beats, melody, and maybe lyrics to a song, and then the band gets together and work on it.

What musical artists inspire you?

Killers, Blink 182, The Neighborhood, Queen, Michael Jackson and more.

What are your overall goals as a band?

Turn music into a full time career and tour internationally so we can meet and connect with all of our fans.

What can we expect from Drive!Drive! in the upcoming future? (If you don’t mind giving any hints!)

More music, more merch, more content. We recently created a website and we want to have more content for our fans to enjoy.

Do you have any advice for artists smaller than yourselves trying to build a community like yours?

Do it because you love it and find people that want to do the same thing.
